Honour. Respect. Courage. These are the legacies created here over seventy-five years ago. These are the things that live on here through the passion and integrity of our volunteers.

Our volunteers have been providing Fire Protection and Fire Prevention services to the residents of Cobble Hill and Mill Bay since 1948. Right now, we are looking for active men and women who want to support their community in a meaningful and fulfilling way.

If you’ve got the right stuff — an able body and good attitude, we provide the rest. Full training to all our members, including firefighting skills and emergency medical skills. As a member, you’ll have the opportunity to help people, save lives, and educate others about fire safety. And if that’s not enough, we offer benefits, compensation, annual award ceremonies, and great Christmas parties.

In your first 6 months with us, we will train you in the basic skills necessary to respond to emergency calls. Within 18-24 months of service, we anticipate all our members will have obtained their NFPA 1001 Level 2 certification (BC Playbook Full Service); as well as their class 3 drivers license with air endorsement.

Commitments:

All members are required to attend our Wednesday training from 18:00-21:00 hours. In addition, every fourth week we require you to attend our Sunday Crew Training from 09:00-12:00. After 6 months, we may ask you to attend fire calls when you are trained and available.

It is required that you live within the area of Mill Bay and Cobble Hill in order to be able to respond to the fire hall in a timely manner during calls.

Become part of our history.
