Mill Bay Fire Department needs more Daytime members, this is one of the best ways in the world to help your community. It is one of the best careers you could ever want in your life, and we will help you get there.
Are you 16, and want to start plans for a career? We have a junior program. When you turn 19, we have you trained so that you have the majority of the training required to be a regular firefighter with-in our department as well as a career fire department.
19 and older? You have the opportunity to learn and work with a very close and diversified team. We will supply you with all the training you need to become a big part of this team. You don’t need any experience.
Mill Bay Fire Department uses the Justice Institute of BC for all our credited training. Your training will be to The British Columbia Fire Service Minimum Training Standards (Structure Firefighters Competency and Training Playbook) (Firefighter 1001). You will train with a very special group of people who thrive to have fun, educate, and help others.
I have been involved now for the past 40 years. I’m not a special person, and it doesn’t take a special person to do this type of work. It takes a person whose passion is to help other’s, with one of their worst days, or it could be one of their best days. You make a difference. You will meet a lot of good people along the way, doing and sharing the same things as you. What are you waiting for? You are already on our web site…. look around the site, check out what we do. Look at our members…. there may be someone you know, there is a reason why they are smiling.
It is the greatest job ever, however don’t just take my word for it….. ask other firefighters. Now is the time to make a change to your life you will never regret.
We are at the Mill Bay Fire Hall # 1 @ 2675 Lodgepole Rd. Monday to Friday, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm. Stop in and see us. Let’s talk about your future with Mill Bay Fire Department. It would be great to send you home with an application. Come on, there is no time like the present.
Ron Beck, Mill Bay Fire Chief.
